NOTE: lecture notes are available in English!

The course on „modelling in atmospheric chemistry“ was first offered in 2003. The current course is offered in English language to cover the needs of international students. It can be credited as an optional course (“Wahlfach”) for students of Technical Chemistry (Wahlfachkatalog Studienplan Technische Chemie).

All students are invited who wish to understand how to convert knowledge into mathematical formulations, and how to translate these to models. Specific examples will draw on atmospheric chemistry, some chemical background is recommended. Interest in atmospheric processes and in real applications of such models will also help understanding.

The course was held as a 3-day block lecture in 2008. There are plans for a repetition in similar or somewhat adapted manner, but currently no date is available. For more information, please contact the lecturer by E-mail.

There is also a German home page.

Lecturer: Univ.-Doz. Dr. Wilfried Winiwarter is research scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg and senior scientist of the Austrian Research Centers - ARC. E-mail: wilfried.winiwarter@arcs.ac.at.

Contents of the course are available here.

The lecture notes to the course are now available in English (as PowerPoint slides) – new version of 2008.
